Post by Josh – Thursday 5:43 p.m.

Hey everybody, this is Josh (Lisa’s husband).  We want to thank Aimee for endless hours of no sleep to keep everybody updated on Jaxton’s status.  I honestly don’t know what the last update said, so I’m just going to share where we’re at now.

Lisa and I are spending some time with Jaxton.  Right now she has him on her lap and is talking to him.  It’s beautiful.  She just told me, “He moved his leg!”  Movement is something we get excited about.

Jaxton is coming up on 24 hours of life!  This is a huge praise!!  We almost lost him last night.  In fact the doctor has given Jaxton no chance of long term survival.  Yet, he’s still alive.  In fact, we just found out his blood PH is up to 7.227, which is much better than it was this morning!  We get excited for each positive step he takes.  The guy is a fighter!!

It’s been an emotional roller coaster so far of highs and lows.  Jaxton was not breathing when he was born.  He’s been switched between multiple ventilators, but now has one that is helping him keep stable.

For the left-brainers here’s the major medical issues Jaxton has: holoproscencephaly (brain), multiple heart defects, and the omphalocele (some of his intestines are in a sac outside his abdomen wall).  We had a tough decision last night of what to do.  We decided to ask the surgeon to put in a central line.  This is a catheter in his chest that is getting needed medication to his heart.

If you’re reading this THANK YOU SO MUC H FOR YOUR PRAYERS!!  WE CAN REALLY USE THEM NOW!!!!  It will definitely take a miraculous healing from God for Jaxton to live.  We definitely haven’t given up hope!  We also have learned to embrace whatever path God has for Jaxton, as difficult as that is for us.

Here is what you can pray for:

1. His heart defects would miraculously heal.

2. His brain would heal and function at a high level.

3. His blood PH remains at a good level.  7.4 is best.

4. His omphalocele heals quickly and well.

5. That he would begin to move a lot.  He rarely, if ever, moves beyond his tongue.

6. For our whole family during this time and for Jake as friends and family are watching him (thank you Niccum’s and sorry for Jake repeatedly taking off his clothes and diaper!!)

7. That Jaxton does not feel pain or experience much discomfort as he begins to try to move.

Thank you all so much!!!

Here are some pictures from last night that Jessica Johnston took for us:

    Just a thought: had God healed Jaxton inside the womb, many could have written it off as misdiagnosis. Praying for healing, to God be the glory in all!!

    Thank you for sharing the pictures! You have been blessed with another beautiful boy. God is miraculous! My continued thoughts and prayers are with you all in the days and weeks and years to come. As I think about my aunts that we said our final goodbyes to today it makes me rejoice for the loved ones we have lost, for the loved ones others have gained and the lives we celebrate whether past or present. We are not given things like this to hurt us, but to bring us stronger in Gods faith. God Bless you Jaxton!

    Continuing to join you guys in prayer and PRAISING GOD for LIFE! What a miracle that Jaxton is here, that you both get to touch and hold him. Praise God for what He has done and is doing in your lives.

    I yell out to my God, I yell with all my might, I yell at the top of my lungs. He listens.
    When I was in distress, I sought the Lord;
    at night I stretched out untiring hands,
    and I would not be comforted.

    I remembered you, God, and I groaned;
    I meditated, and my spirit grew faint.
    You kept my eyes from closing;
    I was too troubled to speak.
    I thought about the former days,
    the years of long ago;
    I remembered my songs in the night.

    Then I thought, “To this I will appeal:
    the years when the Most High stretched out his right hand.
    I will remember the deeds of the LORD;
    yes, I will remember your MIRACLES of long ago.
    I will consider all your works
    and meditate on all your mighty deeds.”

    Your ways, God, are holy.
    What god is as great as our God?
    YOU ARE THE GOD WHO PERFORMS MIRACLES!!!
    you display your power among the peoples.
    With your mighty arm you redeemed your people,
    the descendants of Jacob and Joseph.

    When the Red Sea saw you, O God,
    its waters looked and trembled!
    The sea quaked to its very depths.
    The clouds poured down rain;
    the thunder rumbled in the sky.
    Your arrows of lightning flashed.
    Your thunder roared from the whirlwind;
    the lightning lit up the world!
    The earth trembled and shook.

    Your road led through the sea,
    your pathway through the mighty waters—
    A PATHWAY NO ONE KNEW WAS THERE!
    -Psalm 77

    I heard about Jaxton’s story from Union City friends. I am heartbroken for you but so inspired by your faith. Last year my nephew was rushed to the ER at 3 weeks of age. They discovered that he had contracted bacterial meningitis. He was put on a ventilator and given no chance of survival. The disease had eaten away at his brain had left him with almost nothing. We prayed continually for his healing and for God to tell us what to do next. When they took the ventilator out the doctors were sure he’d stop breathing BUT he didn’t. He kept breathing. They sent him home telling my sister in law to keep him comfortable until he passed. He was given no chance of survival. God did not agree. Last October Maddox turned 1! He is smiling, laughing and moving his arms and legs. God only knows his future but for now we get to love on him and hold him. He is proof that miracles happen. God chose to touch our lives with him as he has done for you. So blessed we are to know such incredible babies. We will keep Jaxton and your family in our prayers.

It has changed me and I am in awe of your faith and love that you have for God and your son. I will never forget Jaxton and the fact that I’ve shed just as many tears during reading this blog as any other time in my life. The most amazing part is my tears have been divided between sadness and happiness for you. Sadness because I could not imagine going through the same thing, and happiness because your faith has shown me the joy that God can allow us to have. I will continue to pray everyday.

We give you glory and honor for showing us your power and might through this little boy you have sent to this world to touch lives that somehow else would never be touched. We ask you Father for strenght in the days to come, for peace in the storm, for patience in the chaos, for your infinite wisdom in the decisions that have to be made. We lift up this couple that are an inspiration to many of us for their strong faith in you. Annoint them, protect them and cover them under your wings of love. We titled his prayer “I BET” as you will quickly know why when you listen. Please excuse the background noise, all 4 of our boys were there agreeing in prayer…Even our two year old. We look forward to hearing updates while we continue to pray in the Power of the Holy Spirit.

    I couldn’t help but think of one of the most beautiful songs I know that one of my musically talented friends has sung and recorded…it’s about a baby just born and the parents find out that it is “extra special” right there in the delivery room and the song just talks about the very special moment that the Dad has with the little one sitting there in the hospital room and the realization of the connection between the love he feels for that child and how God loves us:

    “As the young man held the warm and sleeping bundle to his chest, he saw the imperfections and although he tried his best he couldn’t stop the tears from falling as he held his little [boy] and in a low and trembling voice he gently said these words: ‘You’re beautiful in every way, so beautiful how I waited for this day. If the world was offered to me, I just couldn’t make a trade, cause you’re beautiful.’

    When I think about how I’ve fallen and all the times I’ve tried to hide my imperfections from my Father’s eyes, there’s a voice that still is calling deep inside of me, and I can always hear it when I get on my knees:
    ‘You’re beautiful in every way, so beautiful how I’ve waited for this day. When the world was offered to me, I just couldn’t make the trade, cause you’re beautiful.’

    You’d be amazed how some things matter and some things don’t when you’re seen through the eyes of God, though we try to hide our darkness and melt our tears, he only sees what’s in your heart, and you’re beautiful in every way, so beautiful how I’ve waited for this day. If the world was offered to me I just couldn’t make the trade cause you’re beautiful, I know and God knows you’re beautiful.”
